about
Lucia Blagden is an artist based in the United Kingdom. Trained in Fine Art at Aberystwyth University, Lucia graduated in 2014, specialising in drawing and painting.
Lucia’s work explores a variety of mediums, from ink and charcoal drawings to printmaking techniques, mixed media and 3D structures. The artwork often drifts between inner and outer worlds in an attempt to capture what is not immediate or visible – the void, the ever-changing dance of light, shadow and reflection, one’s perceptions and place in the world.
Lucia’s latest projects explore Japanese Gardens as internal worlds, places of discovery and reflection. Another predominant theme in Lucia’s work is memory. Just like imagination, memories have a taste for creativity; they are weaved together by images, experiences and emotions. Lucia’s works often have a dream-like quality; the choice of subjects suggests a sense of nostalgia for childhood experiences.
From everyday objects to people, Lucia’s artworks encourage a new way of looking, in an attempt to immerse and generate a dialogue with the viewer.
