Pictorial Space
Medium: Acrylic on wood, 244 × 244 × 244 cm
Pictorial Space investigates how we construct reality and, in turn, how reality constructs us. The work offers an immersive experience of space, heightening awareness of the viewer’s direct connection to objects and the surrounding world. Natural light becomes a central agent in this dialogue – its intensity, temperature, and quality in constant flux. Shadows and reflections shift across surfaces, creating a transient and mobile relationship between viewer and environment.
The large scale acrylic structure acts as both frame and field, inviting viewers to inhabit a space where perception is never fixed. This instability reflects a core concern in my practice: the interplay between presence and absence, and the ways material and light shape our understanding of reality.
